Recently I collaborated with two other authors who’ve also written research-based books on bullying — one for educators, the other for elementary schoolers — to create a new, brief guide to what current research and our experience, in visiting many schools, tells us are the best practices schools can follow to prevent bullying and to work with programs and speakers on this issue.

The four-page paper that we developed is available here.

I’m proud of this project! I think it’s going to be very useful and helpful to schools and others who are struggling to open up this tough issue. I worked on the project with Stan Davis, who wrote  Schools Where Everyone Belongs: Practical Strategies to Reduce Bullying, and Empowering Bystanders in Bullying Prevention. Our “Best Practices” paper summarizes the startling results of a recent, nationwide study that Stan co-directed, which surveyed elementary, middle and high schoolers on what really works — and what tends not to — in helping kids deal with bullying. Stan’s website is www.stopbullyingnow.com.

Our third author is Trudy Ludwig, the acclaimed children’s book author who wrote Confessions of a Former Bully, Just Kidding, Trouble Talk and My Secret Bully. Trudy’s site is www.trudyludwig.com.
