Welcome to the web site for
The Revealers—a novel for young readers about bullying and self-discovery.

Thanks for visiting! I'm Doug Wilhelm, author of The Revealers. My novel for young adults, published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, tells of three seventh graders who are being bullied for different reasons, and who set out to change their situation in a middle school where bullying and harassment run rampant. This story is based not only on my own experiences, but on firsthand research in a number of middle schools.

What has happened since the book's publication in autumn 2003 has amazed me. Fast-growing numbers of schools, libraries, and communities—including more than 90 schools in Vermont, my home state—have used The Revealers to open up discussion about this tough subject. And young readers across the country are connecting with the book in very personal, powerful ways.

So I decided to create this web site. Here you'll find lots of information about the book, and many resources—developed and "field-tested" in schools by teachers, librarians, and guidance counselors—for using The Revealers to spark discussion and build new awareness of what bullying really is and how kids can deal with it.

Falling

This is the best book since Harry Potter for getting kids to read. It's even better for getting them to write.

You never know what a big deal bullying is until it happens to you. Everyone should read this book.
